Central IA Boy Scouts exploring STEM opportunities

The Mid-Iowa Council of the Boy Scouts of America will bring together central Iowa’s advanced manufacturing sector and government leaders in a first-of-its-kind effort to expand ways to prepare more Iowa youth for careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics-related job fields. On March 3, The Mid-Iowa Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the nation’s foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training, will present an inaugural STEM-based education and employment summit, “Workforce Development in Iowa - Bridging the Career Awareness Gap.

V-S High School to Host 2020 District Individual Speech Contest Seeks Assistance

On Saturday, February 29, Vinton-Shellsburg High School will be hosting the 2020 District Individual Speech Contest. Approximately 30 schools and hundreds of students and family members will be in attending this wonderful event that will allow us to showcase our school, our community, and the amazing talents of our students. We are writing to you to ask for your assistance during the day and serve as a room chairperson.

North Iowa Tractor Ride July 23-25 overnighting at Benton County Fairgrounds

The annual North Iowa Tractor Ride will roll through Benton, Buchanan, Black Hawk, Tama and Linn Counties.  The 13th Annual ride, presented by MBT Bank and hosted by 95.1 the Bull, 987 Kiss Country and 103.7 the Fox, will take place July 23rd -25th, 2020During this year’s ride, 200 vintage and restored tractors will be headquartered in the Historical community of Vinton at the Benton County Fairgrounds.

Vinton-Shellsburg Voyagers Dance Team to present Spring Show

Vinton-Shellsburg Voyagers Dance Team will be presenting their Spring Show on Saturday, February 15. The doors will be open at 6:00 p.m. and the show will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Vinton-Shellsburg Middle School Gymnasium.Cost for admission is $5.00 and Children 5 and under are Free. Come see the award-winning dance team perform a variety of dance styles such as jazz, hip-hop, pom and kick.

The Iowa Artists organization is looking for artists to submit their original artwork for the Iowa Artists Region 7 Art ShowIowa Artists is a statewide, non-profit organization that works to encourage and educate artists around the state.  Region  7 covers artists living in Benton, Blackhawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Grundy, and Tama counties.
